[Italien] Spendenaufruf: Gerechtigkeit für Moussa Balde!

Vor der Unterstützungsgruppe der Familie von Moussa Balde:

Zur Zeit sammeln wir Geld für den Besuch der Familie von Moussa Balde, der im Mai 2021 zuerst Betroffener rassistischer Gewalt in Ventimiglia wurde und daraufhin ins Abschiebegefängnis von Turin gebracht wurde, wo er nach 10 Tagen Isolationshaft unter noch immer unklaren Bedingungen starb. Der Prozess gegen die ehemalige Direktorin und den damals verantwortlichen Arzt beginnt im September in Turin.

Wir möchten der Familie ermöglichen als Nebenkläger:innen an diesem Prozess in Turin teilzunehmen und brauchen daher dringend Spenden. Die bisherigen Verhandlungstage sind 8. und 22. September und am 6. und 20. Oktober 2025.

CALLFOR DONATIONS TO COVER THE TRAVEL COSTS FOR THE FAMILY MEMBERS
OF THE FAMILY OF MOUSSA BALDE, TESTIMONIES OF THE TRIAL AGAINST THE C.P.R. (DETENTION CENTER) OF TURIN

THE COURT DATES WILL TAKE PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 8TH, SEPTEMBER 22ND, OCTOBER 6TH AND OCTOBER 20TH 2025 AT THE COURTHOUSE OF TURIN.

In order to make possible the presence of the members of the Balde family at the trial, we need to collect money for their travel costs(visas, plane tickets, hospitality, insurance, costs for staying in Turin for a month etc.). The minimum costs for one family member is 4.000 €.

This travel is completely self- and grassroots organized and therefore any contribution counts.

WHO WAS MOUSSA BALDE
Moussa Balde was a friend and comrade. He was found dead in a cell of the C.P.R. of Turin (Centro di Permanenza per il Rimpatrio/ Permanent center for repatriation = names for Italian detentioncenters) in the night between 22nd and 23rd of March 2021, after spending 10 days in solitary confinement. 10 days in which the management of the C.P.R. denied his presence inside of the structure towards the lawyers that were trying to find him.

On 9th of May 2021 he has been beaten up in Ventimiglia by three Italian citizens. This was sufficient to deport him to Turin, believing the claims of his aggressors and completely ignoring the serious physical and psychological conditions in which he found himself after the aggression against him. Moussa, who has his origins in Guinea Conakry, has been detained for not being
European and staying in the territory “irregularly”, and therefore he died locked up in a cell. The death of Moussa was not a fatality or the result of a chain of events: It was the consequence of the structural racism of the state we live in.

Now, 4 years after these events, the trial against the C.P.R. will take place at the courthouse of Turin, one of the most important and unprecedented trials against the system of the CPRs, the Italian detention centers. On February 12th of this year, the preliminary hearing for the trial against the ex-director and ex-medical director, working in the C.P.R. during the time of Moussa
Balde’s death, with the accusation of murder by negligence was held.
On September 8th the first hearing will take place:
Let’s make our voices heard in order to support the Balde family in our shared struggle against the C.P.R.s. Their presence at the trial is essential not just for the legal procedure but in order to highlight the importance of fighting against these structures today
and always.
New structures like this one should not be opened (as currently happening in Liguria) and the ones already existing need to be destroyed.
